Get Balanced® Research Initiative
Advancing the Science of the Master Regulator Through Real-World Data
About the Initiative
The Get Balanced® Research Initiative is dedicated to understanding how people achieve balance in body and mind – and how those habits affect the body’s Master Regulator, known scientifically as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
Our research explores the everyday choices people make to improve their health – from nutrition and movement to mental wellness and recovery. We’re using Plant Chat®, an AI-powered platform, to gather this data through structured survey studies that are secure, easy to complete, and designed for meaningful scientific analysis.
How It Works
Users Join Plant Chat®
Anyone can create an account and verify their profile.
Survey Studies Begin
Participants answer targeted questions on lifestyle, diet, plant medicine use, and wellness practices.
Data Integration
Responses are organized, anonymized, and linked to specific demographic profiles for research accuracy.
Analysis & Insights
Our research team compares the effects of different activities and habits on ECS balance and overall wellness.
Product Development
Insights help guide the creation of new Get Balanced® nutraceuticals and wellness solutions.
Areas of Study
We examine both movement-based and non-movement-based methods of achieving balance:
Movement-Based Practices
Exercise, yoga, biking, hiking, resistance training, stretching, dance, and sports activities.
Non-Movement Practices
Meditation, breathing exercises, nutrition, hydration, sleep habits, supplementation, mindfulness, and recovery routines.
Food & Beverage Choices
Diet types, hydration patterns, functional foods, and botanical beverages.
Lifestyle Factors
Work-life balance, stress management, outdoor activity, and digital habits.
Plant Medicine Use
Forms, dosages, and effects as reported by users.
Lifestyle Focus
Balance isn’t just about what we eat or how often we exercise – it’s the sum of our daily choices, routines, and environments. The Get Balanced® Research Initiative looks at lifestyle as a whole, studying how modern habits influence long-term health and ECS function.
Daily Rhythms
Sleep patterns, circadian alignment, and restorative rest.
Environmental Influences
Access to nature, indoor air quality, and seasonal changes.
Social Wellness
Relationships, community engagement, and emotional support systems.
Digital & Media Habits
Screen time, mental load, and their effects on stress levels.
Work-Life Balance
The role of scheduling, workload, and flexibility in maintaining health.
By understanding the interplay between these lifestyle factors and biological systems like the ECS, we aim to uncover patterns that help people live healthier, more sustainable, and balanced lives.
What is the Master Regulator?
The Master Regulator is our name for the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) – a vast network of receptors, enzymes, and signaling molecules that helps keep nearly every system in the human body in balance. From mood and sleep to immune function, digestion, and pain perception, the ECS works behind the scenes to regulate and coordinate essential processes.
Although the ECS is now recognized as a vital part of human physiology, it was only discovered about 35 years ago. That makes it one of the most exciting frontiers in modern biology – a system still being mapped, understood, and connected to both wellness and disease prevention. New studies are emerging every year, revealing just how much the ECS influences our overall health.
At Get Balanced® Research, we’re uniquely exploring the ECS:
Our goal is to translate this emerging science into practical, evidence-based strategies and products that help people keep their Master Regulator in balance, leading to better health outcomes and a higher quality of life.
Discovered ~35 years ago – One of biology’s newest frontiersWhen Plants Disrupt the Master Regulator
While many plants have compounds that help maintain balance in the Master Regulator, some users experience the opposite – feeling unwell, fatigued, anxious, or otherwise out of sync after using them. This is especially true for specific plants that contain exogenous cannabinoids – plant-derived compounds that mimic our own, and interact with ECS receptors.
The Get Balanced® Research Initiative is committed to studying these cases in depth. Through Plant Chat® surveys and longitudinal tracking, we will:
Identify patterns in how people react to different cannabinoid-containing plants.
Explore whether these reactions are linked to overstimulation or suppression of ECS receptors.
Examine tolerance, receptor downregulation, and neurotransmitter imbalances as possible contributors.
Compare responses between seasoned plant medicine users and those new to these compounds.
Investigate how diet, lifestyle, stress, and co-use of other botanicals influence tolerance and recovery.
Our goal is to map the pathways that lead from plant use to ECS imbalance – and more importantly, to find strategies for restoring balance. Whether it’s through nutritional support, targeted supplementation, lifestyle adjustments, or moderated plant use, the Get Balanced® Research Initiative aims to give people actionable tools to prevent and reverse plant-related ECS dysfunction.
